Sailing Team
The Embry-Riddle Sailing Team competes within the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), specifically within the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA). The ERAU Sailing team practices 4-5 times a week with an attendance policy to ensure students are practicing at a high level to compete weekly regattas around Florida and along the entire East Coast. There are no dues to join our team, but sailors are required to help with fundraiser to help cover costs for equipment, travel and club events.

No experience is required to join the team, however, students who choose to walk onto the team are required to attend at least 2-3 Learn to Sails to ensure they know sailing theory, jargon and safety. View our Learn to Sail page to view more information about when they are hosted.

Tryouts take place roughly the 2nd or 3rd week of each semester to view sailor's skills and create lesson plans prior to the first official week of practice. Students are not cut from the team; Tryouts means you try us out to see if you are able to commit 12-15 hours a week. All sailors that competed in the prior seasons must go through tryouts including members of the executive board.

Hosting Regattas
The club & team hosts a number of regattas locally and for SAISA which involves planning, logistics and working with our sailing facility to run these events. The club is always looking for volunteers from the community and university to run these events.
